In 2015 Visual C++ if I click on a file in the Solution Explorer, it displays to be edited :: except for *.rc (resource) files, and I must edit *.rc files separately with Wordpad or Notepad. The around-2007 edition of the Visual C++ compiler also refused to let me edit *.rc files within the compiler. Why is this? Is editing *.rc files within the compiler, a feature only in compiler versions that must be paid for? If so, what other features are in paid-for versions but not in free versions?
